Piper PA-31T Cheyenne

The Piper PA-31T Cheyenne is a turbine development of the earlier Piper PA-31 Navajo. Originally it was little more but a Navajo equipped with two Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprop engines and a pressurization system. Later, the aircraft was further refined and developed, including aerodynamic improvements and fuselage extensions.

The final cumination was the Cheyenne IIIA with more powerful PT6A engines, and the Cheyenne IV LS which switched to Garret TPE-331 engines ("LS" stands for Lear Siegler, then owners of Piper Aircraft). Production of the Cheyenne, in its final IIIA form, ended in 1991 due to lack of demand.

Some pilots mockingly refer to it as the K-Mart King Air even though the two aircraft are very comparable and possessing their own advantages and disadvantages over the other.
